We set up camp tucked in the rocks trying to protect ourselves from the storm that was coming. Listening to the rapids was very relaxing. It had been a long time since I had camped next to a river and had forgotten how loud rivers can roar. We found the seclusion peaceful and were glad we had taken a more strenuous wildlife trail. It is a great mental escape compared to the day to day work life in the city.

yay for blogging! Love the pictures! You can post more than one picture on a blog, you just click add picture, you can do 5. If you want more you jsut go to edit blog when you are done and click on that blog and then add more pictures. Also, if you don't want that first picture so huge you can make it smaller when you donwload it, there is a spot to click, shrink to fit.

Great job, Randy, was good to meet you and Nobes at the beach. Joe will forever remember Taylor's gruff approach {"You guys got any hooch (booze)"?}.
We were probably as surprised to see you guys as you were us. Freaking KILLER beach, no feeble tourists from god knows where, they stayed on Bright Angel (ha!)!
As you know Joe has made 2 more ventures into Grand Canyon since Boucher, w/another 5-niter scheduled tentatively for April 2009. YOU NEED TO BE THERE!

FANTASTIC trip Randy!!! One of the best times I've ever had without question. Boucher Beach is phenomenal and I can't wait to get back down there.

The trip to Nankoweap in April with the Phoenix dudes is going to be an epic like no other. Gotta start getting ready cause it's going to be a true test!!!
We descended on the boucher in february 2011, camped on that same beach, then hooked up with the tonto trail and headed east -- made it to phantom ranch 3 nights later, and out on the bright angel the next day.
Just wanted to say thanks for posting all these pictures. We knew that boucher would be the toughest part of our hike and used your blog to help prepare. We got really lost where you titled your picture "where's the trail" shortly after that awesome lunch spot at yuma point (we stopped for lunch there too). There was a lot of deep snow when we went, a few feet deep in shadowy places, and like you, it caught us slightly off guard. Made trail finding, particularly that one hairy descent, really difficult since we were breaking trail and had no footprints to follow.
